Pastoral Livestock Production

New Zealand is renowned for its clean green environment and high-quality food production.

This is a free part-time course run over 24-weeks.  The course will deliver the skills and knowledge to assist in managing the factors which influence the quality of pastoral livestock production.

Training topics include:

• Assist with the management of feed supply and demand to meet livestock production targets.
• Nutrition management
• Identify weeds commonly found in, and describe their effects, on a specified primary sector.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the establishment and maintenance of pasture in a pastoral livestock workplace.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the effect of weather on pasture supply and demand.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the management of the physical and biological properties of soil to increase production.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the management of feed surpluses and deficits.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the management of soil fertility and pH levels to increase production in a primary industry workplace.
• Graduates will be capable of building on their basic skills and knowledge in the area of agriculture that they are either employed in or seeking employment in.

On completion, you will receive a certificate in Pastoral Livestock production Level 3, delivered in partnership with NTA, and the Agri Training Primary Trade Certificate.

You will be capable of building on your basic skills and knowledge in the area of agriculture that you are either employed in or seeking employment in.

Entry Requirements:

• Open to NZ citizens or permanent residents
• Aged 17+ 
• Have a commitment to embark on a career in the food and fibre sector.
